In industrial applications, most pump problems are a result of system issues. In other words, the pump has been improperly selected or is being forced to operate in an environment in which it will prematurely fail. Most of these issues are due to varying system demands. Pumps are dumb to the system. Conventionally, they are turned on and run at full-speed using a control valve to moderate pressure. Bypass lines are also used to keep a pump performing on the curve. However, both of these mechanical temporary solutions lead to considerable energy waste and inefficient water pressure performance.

Today, Goulds’ Aquavar CPC (Centrifugal Pump Control) is leading the way in regards to pump-control technology.

 
This control unit, which underwent 14 years of equipment and programming evolution, was designed by Goulds Pumps specifically for centrifugal pumps. The unit is designed around pump users’ needs and is translated in English, Spanish and French. Because 99% of pump applications require constant water pressure, the unit is provided with its own pressure transducer for feedback.
 
Additional operational modes include constant-flow, constant-temperature or constant-level modes. Goulds has included various pump-user functions including automatic alternation, dry-run protection and motor protection.
